So,
from 1174 the Hamlet belonged to the Church and must
have witnessed many changes over the centuries. Complete
records of the 700 years of ownership by the Church
are still available at Canterbury.
In
1880 the Hamlet was purchased by the Vicar of Dunsford,
the Reverend Gregory, whose descendants donated a barn
to be used as a Chapel and Meeting place for the residents
and eventually sold the Land and Properties to the tenants
in the early part of the 20th Century.
The
Chapel forms part of the United Benefice of Moretonhampstead
and Doccombe and is used for services once a month and
on special occasions as a meeting place by the residents.
